A very good climb to warm you up will get you to a fork in the road. Go right to continue up Iron Mtn or left to Ellie trail which is longer and a bit more technical. At the summit you will find a free telescope, which is always in good working order, and a mail box. The descend is fast and fun. Be careful of hikers and dangerous switch-backs.
